CALEB LEAHY – Senior Controls Engineer

Senior Controls Engineer, Caleb Leahy oversees the electrical and control design of our customer’s projects in Somex Automation. His team is responsible for designing the electrical systems and programming PLCs, HMIs and Robots in Somex Automation. Caleb relishes the variety of work and new technologies that his team brings to every new design and enjoys going the extra mile to exceed our customers’ expectations.

For Caleb flexibility is key to a strong and effective customer relationship. His interaction with clients extends throughout the Concept, Design, Testing and installation phases of projects. During the life cycle of the machines, Caleb is also on hand to offer support, expert troubleshooting and make modifications as requested by customers. Caleb has a degree in Computer Aided Manufacturing Engineering and joined Somex Automation in 2011. He has a natural competency for control system design and system commissioning. He has a strong expertise in validation of systems, particularly in testing and qualifying the systems.

Prior to joining Somex Automation, Caleb worked with BCD on the automation and electrical design of skid systems for the pharmaceutical, beverage & dairy sectors. He was BCD’s Lead Automation Engineer, responsible for control system design & electrical engineering design for skids, PLC & HMI programming, generating automation & electrical documentation, reviewing technical documents from sub contractors, reviewing instrument selection during the procurement process, co-ordination and execution of FAT testing with clients, co-ordination and execution of SAT/IQ/OQ testing with clients.

Caleb enjoys mountain biking & in his spare time can often be found taking to the trails.
