JOE SWEETNAM – Automation Manager
Automation Manager Joe Sweetnam is responsible for managing all customer projects in Somex Automation. Joe plays an active role from initial concept, design review, detailed design, build and post installation support. His role is to ensure customers receive best value design solution, validated and integrated to their process in shortest possible lead time.
Joe joined Somex Automation in 2013 bringing with him over 25 years of experience in both Irish and multinational manufacturing industry with a particular focus on automation and continuous improvement.
Joe has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and brings to Somex Automation extensive experience in automation & bespoke machine design, having worked in as a machine designer and in engineering manager capacity. Previously he was responsible for establishing a machine building function, which built machines for his employers Irish and US facilities.
Joe has worked in both regulated and non-regulated industries and has a very strong understanding of the requirements of Somex Automation’s customers operating in a regulated environment, from planning phase right through to installation and testing phases of the equipment life cycle.
When he is not pursuing his passion for engineering, you can find him passing on a passion of a different kind on the local pitch where he trains the local underage camogie or hurling teams.
